Trips to the doctor

One thing I will remember about this pregnancy as compared to the first will be the numerous trips to the doctor. Being as how I am over 35, I am considered "advanced middle age" which means more doctor visits (extra ultrasounds, for example). Then because of my thyroid condition, I have to see the endocrinologist every month as well. Because Lexi was born with a very small hole in her heart, I have had a fetal echo done. Baby didn't give them a good view of the spine during the anatomical ultrasound, so I have to go back in 4 weeks. Combining that with all of the regular baby doctor visits and I feel like I spend a lot of time going to the doctor! And we are only halfway!

Baby shower

Back in mid-April, Stephen's Aunt Carol hosted a baby shower for us while she, Stephen's mom and sister Ruth were here in DC visiting. That was really nice of her to do for us. Having been overseas when we were pregnant with Lexi, we missed out on some of these typical family events. We received some very nice gifts - and Lexi got something, too, which she appreciated. In general, we are pretty well set with the small things for the baby. What we are missing are the big things - a crib, changing table, diaper acoutrements. I am checking out yard sales and giveaways to try and find these things as I don't really think it is worthwhile to buy new. But if we have to, we will! We aren't going to let the baby sleep on the floor! :)
